25th Anniversary Celebration

We hope you were able to attend our 25th Anniversary Celebration April 25 & 26. More than 100,000 people filled the streets of Little Italy and basked in the gorgeous spring weather, while taking in the sights and sounds throughout the neighborhood. This event brings together all of the arts in San Diego, both visual and performing. It’s a year-long celebration of creativity that culminates in April each year.

Not only was it the milestone 25th year for the festival, it was the first year of our partnership with Mission Federal Credit Union. Not only is Mission Federal a wonderful partner with us as our title sponsor…they support so many terrific organizations in San Diego. We are extremely grateful that we have such amazing sponsors that allow us to continue offering this event free to the public.

Thanks once again to ALL of the sponsors who continue to support the arts even in this tough economic climate.

Thank you to Alejandro Martínez-Peña: Banner Art

If you’ve been in Little Italy any time since March, you must have noticed our beautiful new street banners that adorn the lightposts throughout the neighborhood. What makes them so special is that 2009 Featured Artist Alejandro Martínez-Peña allowed us to incorporate three of his pieces into the banner artwork. Thank you, Alejandro, for the artistic contribution to the Mission Federal ArtWalk marketing program!

Business of Art Scholarship

SDSU student Jessica Siemens was the first recipient of the Business of Art Scholarship that was presented by The Frame Maker in cooperation with Mission Federal ArtWalk. Jessica was a most deserving winner. Her oil paintings speak for themselves, and you can see them at www.jessicasiemens.com. In addition to a free booth at the event, her scholarship included the invaluable mentoring and coaching on the business aspects of planning, working, and following up on a festival installation. John Hiemstra with The Frame Maker served as her coach, and it’s certain that Jessica is well on her way towards a successful career as a fine artist.
