Setup & Selling Questions
When may I start setting things up? |
You may arrive at 6:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday, April 30 & May 1, 2011 to begin setup. |
How should I hang my artwork? |
There are many strategies artists use for displaying their work, from velcro, peg board and wireshelving to professional display units. Several examples of ways artists hang their work are on our display resource page. |
May I drive up to my tent? |
Yes. During official setup and tear down times you will be allowed through the barriers with your vehicle. You may drive right up to your tent, unload your vehicle and immediately move your car (to avoid traffic congestion) Cars are to be moved as soon as unloaded (and prior to 10:00am) to avoid congestion and so the streets are clear before the event begins. |
Where can I park once I'm done setting up? |
There are many lots in the event vicinity. Most of them require a fee. One of the largest lots is located at the San Diego County Administration Buliding (Pacific Highway at Ash St). |
May I display or store things outside of my tent? |
No. All artwork, displays, supplies, etc must be inside your tent at all times during the event. When hanging signs or artwork on your tent please do not intrude on your neighbor's space or cover any signage they may have. Courtesy is the name of the game. |
May I hang artwork and displays from the poles in my tent? |
Yes. You may hang artwork from the poles in your tent as long there is no damage to the tent, tent poles or street. Tent poles are 2” in diameter and can hold a maximum with of 80 lbs per pole,
but remember that the artist next to you may also be hanging weight on these poles.. |
Does my artwork have to be framed? |
No. Some artists sell their work in frames, many don't. Artists often bring a few framed works to compliment the many unframed pieces they bring. It is up to you. |
How much of my work should I bring? |
You should install enough of your work to fill your tent space. A single tent has three 10' x 10' walls. On the other hand, be careful not to overfill your tent.
You may want to add a “browse bin” to the display as well. |
When do I have to be out of my tent on Sunday? |
Please remove everything from your tent by 7:00 PM Sunday evening. |
