View full artist profile

Diane Uke is a Del Mar-based artist who has had a lifelong passion for art. She grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and spent the summers of her youth in Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon where she developed her love for painting amidst the natural beauty of the red rocks. She received her B.S.B.A. from the University of Arizona and relocated to San Diego in 1975. There, Diane worked as a C.P.A. for Price Waterhouse & Co., and in private industry for several years. She retired in 1989 to devote more time to art and cultivating her own unique style. She has studied extensively through numerous classes and workshops under the tutelage of such artists as Gerald Brommer, Calvin Fortbrook, and Elaine Harvey. Her work has been shown in several galleries, and is held in private and corporate collections across the nation. Her work is currently exhibited at Del Mar Art Center Gallery.

About her work Diane says: “I interplay the organic element of nature with the linear and structural symbols of man and the mechanized world. My work deals with the conflict between our fragile environment and the inevitability of modernization and progress. I aim to show that the right blend of both can create balance and beauty.”
