Kallen Media: Acrylic, Various
Canyon De Chelly
View full artist profile
Kallen believes all art is primordial, whether the artist or viewer is aware or not, and that the arts bridge human barriers encountered through differences in culture, experience and preference. She strives for the viewer to transcend these barriers and to connect with a shared human experience so that the encounter, however brief, enhances and enriches life. Kallen is a multi-disciplinary artist comfortable with both painting and sculpting mediums and has exhibited and sold her work throughout the United States. She currently resides in La Quinta, California.
Kallen’s abstract series of urban and organic landscapes employs the starkness of black and white acrylics to best explore issues of context and contrast and aspects of negative/positive space. She focuses on a specific feeling emanating from the landscape, rather than articulating a specific place. Kallen agrees with Alberto Giacometti’s statement: “the object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.”
