Susanne Slater took up drawing at an early age. She grew up in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana where she was exposed to her father's love of western painters and sculptures. In her early 20's she moved to San Diego and began a career as a registered nurse and continued with her drawing with pencil and pen. In 2000, with the full support of her husband, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time artist.
Susanne enrolled in classes at Jeff Watts Atelier in Encinitas where she learned the classical approach to art through figure drawing and sculpting. There she took her first watercolor class with award-winning local artist Jim Millard. Susanne has not stopped painting since.
